Be Kind to Your Mind

Be Kind to Your Mind is a community gathering led by and for peers that want to support one another in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. Be Kind to Your Mind is an ongoing collaborative between Peer Support Space, Bros in Convo, Miracle of Love, and Stafford House.

Be Kind to Your Mind is held every second Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Stafford House. Those of all sexual orientations, genders, ages, and disabilities as well as those of diverse neurological, racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds are welcomed.

Join us for fuzzy blankets, light snacks, supportive conversation and a meditation, as we share pain and love. You do not need to share to attend. Your role as a supportive listener is equally as important. We are excited to take the time together to disconnect from social media and build a new supportive community.

What to Expect:

During Be Kind to Your Mind, we each take about 10 minutes (if we want to) to vent.

Afterwards, you can decide if you want feedback, advice, or if you just wanted to vent. Feedback would be something like, "You're brave for sharing that" or "I went through something similar" Advice would be something like, "When I ___ what helped me was ___".

Light snacks and fuzzy blankets are provided (you can bring your own). All are encouraged to bring any additional items that will help you feel comfortable.

Andre Nelson

Andre Nelson is a whimsical outgoing individual who stumbled into social work as a career through volunteer work. While STD Testing & Prevention are apart of my regulated duties its not all encompassing. I enjoy being able to coordinate events in addition to facilitating groups that aid in community education, unity, & healing.

As a gender non conforming individual I'm probably one of the least judgmental people you will ever meet, in turn causing me to be an advocate on behalf of all disenfranchised factions of society. Remember at Stafford house (Funded by Miracle of Love Inc.) the motto is "We love you for free". Take care of yourselves.--

Yasmin Flasterstein

My personal and professional life has led me to be an advocate for mental health, particularly within LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities. I am passionate about breaking the mental health stigma that leaves people suffering alone and not seeking out help.

Professionally, I am the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Peer Support Space Inc., but during Be Kind to Your Mind, I am just another courageously vulnerable human. I enjoy providing a non-judgemental environment for us to support and uplift one another. This group has helped me overcome many of my struggles related to PTSD, Dissociative Disorder, living with chronic pain, or to just being a human with mental health.

In my spare time I enjoy activities including tap dance, watching the Bachelorette (I know it's trash), going to the beach, or hanging out with my puppy DeeDee.
